Daniel, Miura Haruma’s study abroad roommate talks about his memories of the actor

Bunshun has posted an article featuring Daniel, a study abroad roommate of actor Miura Haruma who died on July 18th.

Daniel posted his memories of Miura Haruma on Baidu.

Back in 2017, Miura Haruma did a short-term study abroad program in England and his roommate a man from China named Daniel.

Daniel remembered first meeting Miura, while staying at a flat basement on the south bank of Thames, the landlord told him a Japanese male would be coming.

While Daniel went out with friends to watch a Arsenal vs. Manchester United game, when he got back, the landlord said that the Japanese man, which he didn’t remember the name, was not adjusted to the climate of London.

When he saw Miura he introduced himself in bad Japanese and his first impression of the Japanese guy with the hat, that he looked very cool.  Miura responded, “Hello, my name is Haruma, you can call me Haru”.

When he saw Haru, he saw that he would only eat oatmeal every morning.  So, Daniel decided to take Haru to a nearby supermarket and Haru ended up buying boxes of frozen pineapple saying “This is really good.  I like eating this…”.

Haru didn’t really tell Daniel much about himself as he kept himself inconspicuous. When they went out to eat Japanese food, two Japanese girls wanted to take a picture with him.  He refused and Daniel thought, “Japanese girls are really straightforward when they see a handsome Japanese guy”.

Daniel mentioned that when Miura wore a hat or put his bangs down, he looked completely different, so many fans probably didn’t recognize him.

But one day at the library and out with another Japanese friend, a girl his friend knew talked about meeting a popular Japanese entertainer and when he saw the image, Daniel realized the entertainer was his roommate.

Haru introduced himself working in entertainment but Daniel, didn’t think so much about it, thinking he was a model.

When he asked Haru and told him he saw him in the film “Koizora” with Aragaki Yuki, he asked if he could introduce her to him.  Miura said that she was very nice but he never had her contact information.  But also he told him that any photos that they took together, to please not post them on the Internet.  Because some of his Japanese fans will fly to London to find him and that wouldn’t be good.

One day, when Daniel returned to the flat, he saw Miura sitting alone on the stool crying.  He was surprised and asked Haru, “what happened?”.  Haru held his hand while crying.

Haru said that his Japanese management office said he was wasting his time in London and wanted him to return to Japan and get back to work.

Daniel said he thought why is he not confident, why was he holding his hand but he realized that Haru was a very sincere person.

Back in 2015, Daniel asked Haru about the film “Attack on Titan” and Haru told him, “I’m very sorry to the fans of the original manga by Isayama Hajuime.  My acting was so useless that I don’t feel like watching the full story even if it’s been two years later because the film was so bad”.

While Miura studied abroad for three months, Daniel felt that through his communication with Haru, he felt how sincere and serious he was.

He remembered Miura talking about Chinese entertainment and felt Liu Shishi was very beautiful.

He remembered asking Miura why he didn’t put his profile on WhatsApp and Miura said it wasn’t good to have a profile picture, but he changed it to put three horses.

Miura recommended him to see the musical “Kinky Boots”.  He never heard of it but Miura told him, “you will like it after watching it, especially the music”.  Miura then told him he played the character Lola.

Daniel said because of Miura’s influenced, he watched it in China, UK and the US.

One day while riding the subway, Daniel asked him if he had ever been to the London Eye.  Miura said if two guys went together, maybe that would be too weird.  But one day, he bought tickets and both went to the London Eye together in the afternoon.

Daniel shared a photo of Haruma as the two often ate pancakes each week at Glamorous Puds Cafe in London.

Another memory Daniel remembered of Miura was that each time they went to the subway, at the entrance, if it was raining, Haruma would  way for a few minutes opening and closing the umbrella to let the water drip and to make sure water never dripped in the subway.  He repeated this action many times.

The two would often chat on Instagram, revealing that Miura used the three horses on Instagram with the user name: spring_lord

When he saw that Miura had died, Daniel posted on Baidu, “The obituary was painful and unbearable. The pressure you received from your company, your family’s wishes, emotions and everything that might have affected you, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you Haru.  For bringing me wonderful memories”.

On the Bunshun article, Daniel shared a photo with Haruma using his real photo and more photos of hanging out with his friend/roomate.
