As the four day weekend is taking place in Japan, the Tokyo metropolitan government announced that the novel coronavirus infections surged pass 300 on Thursday, the first time it has surpassed 300, surpassing last Friday’s 293.
There have been a surge in the number of infections in nightclub establishments such as host and hostess bars.
Governor Koike Yuriko has now raised the pandemic alert to the highest of the four levels.
