Maki Youko and management Flying Box to part ways

Maki Youko has won numerous awards for films such as “Sayonara Keikoku” and “Yureru” and has appeared in numerous dramas since 2001.

Her management office Flying Box announced that her contract will be expiring in mid-February.

With the discussion of a contract renewal, because of the differences in direction and future activities, her contract was not renewed.

Unfortunately, things have not gone so well for Maki.  Her summer Fuji TV drama “Cecil no Mokuromi” lasted only 9 episodes due to a 4% viewer rating.

In a desperate effort, Maki updated her official Twitter and interacted with her fans but the drama was canceled.

When she said she was going to collect production funds via crowd funding and sell photo magazines at comiket, she received a lot of flack and ended up closing her Twitter account.

In November, she was to star in the film “Sunny – Tsuyoi kimochi tsuyoi ai” but before shooting began, her management said she was in “poor physical condition” and she was replaced by Itaya Yuka.

The magazine “Jousei Jishin” wrote an article about Maki Youko and how she had been complaining about her treatment from her management for more than ten years.  And wrote that she would be seeking independence from her management after her contract expires.

According to an official at her management, there are still 3 CM contracts remaining with Flying Box that will last until July of this year despite her contract expiring in mid-February
