GLAY’s TERU to perform his second acoustic live at CARNEVALE DI VENEZIA in Venice, Italy

GLAY vocalist TERU announced that he will be performing his second acoustic live for CARNEVALE DI VENEZIA in Venice, Italy along with GLAY leader, guitarist and lyricist, TAKURO.

The performance will be held on February 12th at San Marco Square.

Back in February 2017, TERU became the first Japanese to perform at CARNEVALE DI VENEZIA, which is an anuual festival held in Venice, Italy and ends with the Christian celebration of Lent, 40 days before Easter.  The festival is known for people wearing masks around Venice and its history goes back as far as 1162, which began with a celebration of the Venice Republic’s victory over the Patriarch of Aquileia, Ulrico di Treven.  People would rush to gather and dance at San Marco Square to honor the victory.

The festival was outlawed by the Holy Roman Emperor and the Emperor of Austria, Francis II in 1797.  And would be celebrated again for a short period during the 19th century, until returning in full force in 1979 courtesy of the Italian government, who wanted to bring back the history and culture of Venice.

TERU made the comment that people enjoyed TERU performing “HOWEVER” and people gave positive comments of how it was a good song. TERU said he wants to put the lyrics in Italian, so people will under stand the lyrics to the song.

TERU also said that when he went to take a photo in Saint Marco Square, a waiter at a nearby restaurant said “Your live performance yesterday was awesome! Can I get your autograph?”.  That gave TERU great confidence that for the second live, he wants to work hard and working with TAKURO, arrange quality music that would attract a lot of people.

Last year featured three local string musicians and TERU playing the acoustic guitar performing three songs but this year, a pianist will be added.

CARNEVALE DI VENEZIA 2018 will take place from January 27 (Saturday) through February 13th (Tuesday).  TERU and TAKURO’s appearance will be on Sunday February 12th at 5:30 p.m.
