Nogizaka46 film “Asahinagu” to be released on Blu-ray/DVD on May 16th

On May 16th, the Nogizaka46 film “Asahinagu” will be released in a special edition and standard edition Blu-ray/DVD format.

The film is a live-action adaptation of Kozaki Ai’s seinen manga series published by Shogakukan and serialized in “Big Comic Spirits”.

The manga is about a group of female high school students who join a Naginata club (Naginata is similar to kendo but a large bamboo pole known as “shiai-yo” is used).

The story revolves around a 15-year-old shy and timid student named Toujima Asahi who wants a brand new fresh start at Futatsuzuaka High School.  She meets a girl named Maharu, who is strong-minded and involved in Naginata.  Wanting to be a better person, Asahi joins the club and wants to shine.

In the live-action film, Ninishino Nanase plays the character of Toujima Asahi and the film also stars members Shiraishi Mai, Sakurai Reika, Matsumura Sayuri, and Ikuta Erika.

The special edition of the Blu-ray/DVD will feature a visual commentary by six members of Futatsuzuaka High School, a making of featurette, promotional TV spots, screening greeting, special activities, stage greeting, event footage and more.  Also, the first edition will include a special booklet.
