TBS’ long-running “Rank Ōkoku” (ランク王国) show to end on March 24th

Back in October 7, 1995, the late-night program “Rank Ōkoku” premiered on TBS and on March 24th, TBS will be pulling the plug on the series.

A program that had various ranking for a variety of topics such as animation, action figures, idol DVD’s and photo albums, sweets and more, BuzzFeed News inquired to TBS whether the series will be ending and the publicity department admitted that “Rank Ōkoku” will be ending on the 24th.

BuzzFeed was told by a stakeholder that the audience rating was very good for its time period, competing for 1st and 2nd place, so low viewership was not the reason for the show to be ending.  Also, no successor has been announced.

The show is currently hosted by Katou Rihona and would feature a CG alien co-host known as Ralph.

In October 2017, the broadcast celebrated its 23rd year and the show was known for various top 10’s and also random questionnaires, from “100 Women in Harajuku were asked…What is your favorite fish egg?”, “Women were asked in Harajuku of what is their favorite gummi candy?” and more.
