NHK World posts video from “This is NIPPON Premium Theater” 「Perfume × TECHNOLOGY」presents “Reframe”』

NHK World has posted a video from “This is NIPPON Premium Theater” 「Perfume × TECHNOLOGY」presents “Reframe” which was held on March 20th and 21st at NHK Hall.

The event is part of the “Perfume x TECHNOLOGY 2017” which unveiled Perfume’s first uninterrupted dance and stage performance made with the latest technology broadcasted on NHK back on December 21st.

Choreography for the stage performance was handled by MIKIKO , while Rhizomatiks was in charge of interaction design.

The event was broadcasted on NHK’s official site, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and people all over the world were able to experience Perfume’s stage performance.

At the opening of the live, developed was a lyrics retrieval system, automatic audio clipping and video clipping system using sync power from API.  Screening all past music videos and screening them in chronological order.

“DISPLAY” and “Butterfly” were also performed.  “DISPLAY” utilized projection mapping that was projected onto the stage that transforms into various shapes using dynamic VR which appears stereoscopically according to the position of the viewpoint. “Butterfly” has 20 drones on staged and their movement was made according to the dance choreography.

For “FUSION”, it was created by moving a virtual light source around a 3D motion-caption of a member of Perfume, then the effect of three shadows appeared on the walls, huge and small according to the song.  While “Negai” used “important photographs” shot by fans who posted on a special site for this event.  After the image analysis, the photo data was converted into a scene.

Perfume’s A~Chan said, “I think that it’s revolutionary to be able to do something new using old data.  Human beings have a temperature and love that is impossible to build this type of work on the same stage as today without technology.  We are happy if you let us know if technology is familiar to you and if it brings out Perfume’s warmth”.
