Yamashita Hiroko of the Aflac cancer insurance CM has passed away

Yamashita Hiroko was given a half a year for life expectancy due to liver cancer and she appeared on the CM and website for the insurance company, Aflac.

It was confirmed on by her husband that Hiroko passed away on March 25th.

Her husband posted on their blog that “Hiroko had left after 6:00 a.m..  We went to the hospital in an ambulance at the end of February and she had three consecutive days of emergency surgery.  For about three weeks after, Hiroko was made to sleep, so we were unable to communicate.  However, it was to ensure that she would not feel any pain and I was able to take time to say goodbye to her slowly.  The funeral will be schedule in Kobe city on the 27th and 28th.  More information will be posted on the blog.  I appreciate your warm messages and support for Hiroko.  Thank you very much”.

UPDATE: Hiroko’s husband has updated the blog with funeral information.

Hiroko was diagnosed with liver cancer at the age of 19 while she was attending college.  While she underwent surgery, the cancer unfortunately came back and she was given a half year to live.

On March 2nd, her husband tweeted that Hiroko was taken to ICU and would be undergoing three consecutive surgeries.
