Interim results of NHK’s “All-Gundam Major Votes” are revealed

Mobile Suit Gundam is said to have changed Japan’s animation industry with its realistic style of portraying characters and incorporating world views.  It was also said to be a monumental series for mecha robot animation.  And since 1979, when the series first came onto the scene, Gundam continues to thrive 40-years later.

And with NHK BS Premium, a database covering over 56 anisongs, 56 animated films, more than 2,000 characters and mobile suits have been developed.

And now NHK is hosting an “Zen Gandamu dai tōhyō” (All-Gundam Major Votes) starting today and will allow viewers to select and vote for different categories.   Results will be announced in a live broadcast in May.

Final voting will take place on April 20th.

On April 16th, “Rekishi hiwa Gundam Historia” will be rebroadcasted on Monday, April 16, 2018 on Mondays at 12:40 a.m. to 1:39 a.m.

On May 5th, the results of the “All-Gundam Major Voting” will be revealed on May 5, 2018 with Part 1 airing at 9:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Part 2 airing on 11:45 at 0:45 a.m.

The interim results from voting which began on March 2nd have been announced for “Best Character”, “Best Mobile Suit (Mecha)” and “Best Gundam Songs”.  Voting is still underway including “Best Anime Work” and those will be announced on the May program.
