Yamashita Tatsuro to write the opening theme and main theme song for Hosoda Mamoru’s animated film “Mirai no Mirai”

It was announced that Yamashita Tatsuro will be responsible for the opening theme and the theme song for the animated film “Mirai no Mirai” (Mirai of the Future) to be released on July 20th.

The animated film is directed by Hosoda Mamoru (“The Boy and the Beast”, “Wolf Children”, “Summer Wars”, “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”).

The collaboration between Yamashita and Hosoda is the first time in nine years, as Yamashita wrote and sung the theme song for “Summer Wars” titled “Bokura no Natsu no Yume” (Our Summer Dream).

While Yamashita has a long career and has made many hit songs and songs used by film and television, this will be Yamashita’s first time creating the opening theme and a theme song for the film.

Yamashita Tatsuro said, “I have the opportunity to work with Hosoda Mamoru again since ‘Summer Wars’ .  For the first time, with the same director, I will be offering two songs.  I am honored and I will do my best”.
