Kobashi Yumiko announced as the new voice for “Crayon Shin-chan”

Kobayashi Yumiko has been a voice actress since 1998, when she did the voice of Lio Junior for “Beast Wars II: Super Life-Form Transformers” and in 1999 as Excel Kobayashi in “Excel Saga” and Sarah McDougal in the 2000 anime series “Love Hina”.

She has had a good career with her most recent work being Scarlett O’Hada for “Gunslinger Stratos”, Lest Karr for “Seraph of the End”, Yuta Iridatsu for “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.” and Joe Kirifuda for “Duel Masters”.

And now, Kobayashi has been announced as the new voice for Crayon Shin-chan.

Kobayashi said, “Everyday I am impressed with the weight of responsibility and it’s an honor to have such a big role.  I have been studying Yajima’s work since the first episode and I am in awe of her voice work and I respect her.  I will steadily pursue Yajima’s Shin-chan, so that I can become Shin-chan and be familiar to everyone as soon as possible within the year”.

On June 1st, longtime shin-chan seiyuu Yajima Akiko announced that she was stepping down for the role that she has done for 26-years because it was difficult for her to continue to do the voice naturally.

“Crayon Shin-chan” is one of the oldest anime series that is currently airing on television since it’s broadcast debut on TV Asahi back in 1992.
