“Gomen ne, SUMMER” (Type-B) is a pretty cool CD+DVD. Definitely my favorite single yet from SKE48, Type-B features three idol tracks, one for the summer, one mellow with an acoustic sound while the third track is a mix of pop and rock.

SKE48 is back with their 3rd single titled “Gomenne, Summer” and what a perfect time to have a idol pop summer!
Created by AKB48 producer Yasushi Akimoto. SKE48 was created as a test for Akimoto to see if his idea of having an nationwide 48 project would work, considering he had received offers from other countries to develop his project for their country.
With “Gomen ne SUMMER”, a total of three versions were released. TYPE-A, TYPE-B (which come with a DVD) and a Theater Edition (which comes with no CD).
The version I will be reviewing is “Gomen ne SUMMER” (Type-B) which features Rena Matsui in the front, and Jurina Matsui in the back. The CD insert is a tri-fold featuring lyrics and production credits on one side, while the other features eight of the SKE 48 members plus the front cover with Rena and Jurina. While the reverse/back of the CD features five members in the back.
The first track on the single is “Gomen ne, SUMMER” (which translates to “Sorry, Summer”), a catchy upbeat pop idol summer track. The song is about guy observing a girl on the beach, as the girl sits and counting the approaching waves and just seeing how the summer makes the person think of the person’s beautiful side. And the person saying “Sorry, Summer” and how the person wants to touch the girl’s heart softly and the urge to tell her how he feels about her.
The second track is titled “Hazumisaki” (which is a location in Japan) and is performed by Undergirls B. The song is a mellow and enjoyable acoustic guitar driven track.
The song is a summer track about going with your friends to Hazumisaki. About friends hanging out, having fun and taking pictures with each other and enjoying the Hazumisaki sunset and will be one’s memory of youth.
The third track is titled “Pinnochio Gun” performed by the Theater Girls. The song is quite interesting because it’s a bit of pop and rock and it reminds me of a Morning Musume song. But for the most part, the song is entertaining and fun, while the lyrics about people who grow up to have big noses and when your nose grows big, go out and have fun with friends and enjoy the moment spent with one another.
The remainder of the three tracks are the instrumental versions of the first three vocal tracks.
As for the DVD, the DVD begins with the music video of “Gomen ne, SUMMER” and features seven SKE48 members dancing on the beach and shows each member running through the street in order to get to school in time. While Jurina is running after a guy she likes.
The second music video is for “Hazumisaki”. Featuring members of Undergirls B, featuring eight members looking out to sea on vacation. The song is a mellow, acoustic guitar sound and while a fun song, the music video depicts the fun the girls are having while playing on the beach or dancing on a field.
The third and final video on the DVD features the music video for “Pinocchio Gun” and is set in what appears to be a military school and the trainer getting the girls to exercise, meanwhile we see members of the Theater Girls performing next to tanks and washing military vehicles.
It’s important to note that this is a region 2 DVD and will not play on a region 1 player (unless you have a non-region DVD player) but can be played on a MAC or PC using free video playing software such as VLC or Daum PotPlayer.
Overall, “Gomen ne, SUMMER” (Type-B) is a pretty cool CD+DVD. Definitely my favorite single yet from SKE48, Type-B features three idol tracks, one for the summer, one mellow with an acoustic sound while the third track is a mix of pop and rock.
