Week 2 of “Produce48” and how did SKE48’s Matsui Jurina and HKT48’s Miyawaki Sakura do?

The second week of “Produce 48”, the Mnet survival reality TV show has aired.

Featuring 96 trainees from Japan and South Korea and features a collaboration between Mnet’s “Produce 101” of South Korea and the J-Pop idol group AKB48.  The winning 12 contestants as voted only by Korean viewers will be  part of a group for two and a half years.

So far, the show has shown the differences between South Korea and Japanese idols when it comes to singing and dancing.  And for many J-Pop fans, “Produce 48” was mt with skepticism because when it comes to vocals and choreography, comparing the two is like apples and oranges.

But it’s cool to see the two cultures get together especially in this cool dance video:

And it was evident in the first week of voting as nearly all Japanese 48 members performed, got an F, with the exception of Takeuchi Miyu, who got an A.

With the teaser showing that SKE48’s Matsui Jurina and Miyawaki Sakura would be next, the Miyawaki Sakura “Death stare” was no doubt a teaser that things weren’t going to go well and sure enough…

After the suspense of bleeping out what she got, we eventually find out that Sakura received an A.

As for this year’s AKB48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo Queen, Matsui Jurina performed Itano Tomomi’s “Dear J”…

And Matsui Jurina, got a B.  Still one of the better of the Japanese performers of “Producer 48” so far.

Also, Muto Tomu, Takahashi Juri and Kojima Mako performed.  Takahashi received a B, Kojima a C and Muto a D.

Of course, the South Korean trainees showed viewers that the vocals and choreography are spot on, so I think we are going to see major competition of who will make it in the top 12.

But next week’s teaser shows us there will be a race…  Immediately for us, red flags went up.

Why? Because as we hope Miyawaki Sakura can make it into the top 12, when it comes to running or anything athletic… Sakura can’t run (watch the video below).

So, we’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope she will do well if she is indeed racing for episode 3.

In terms of the realtime rankings, the top 12 are:
