[UPDATE] Produce48 Episode 5 – Who makes the Top 58? – Miyawaki Sakura, Goto Moe, Yabuki Nako, Takeuchi Miyu and Honda Hitomi make the top 12

It’s elimination day and only 58 trainees will remain and 38 will be eliminated (actually 34, as four AKB48G members quit very early).

The first video features each member going up to their chairs with an introduction of each trainees/group before eliminations.

We got a chance to see the type of morning exercises the trainees had to go through…

A few fun and games prior to the eliminations.

But then it was a chance to see who would becoming the next “Dancing Queen”, as previous “Dancing Queen” SOMI was there to host the small competition.

Goto Moe was voted “Dance Queen” and Matsui Jurina couldn’t help but shed tears because she has watched Goto grow as a performer and improve.

The top 58 was announced and the trainees that made the final cut were:

It’s important to note that the final position #58 was the last that was revealed.  Nevertheless, it is a controversial pick because there are fans who believe  there are others who should have gotten the position due to talent.  But it’s important for people to remember that the votes were by Korean viewers, not international viewers and Sato Minami was voted for the final #58 seat.

It was a special moment for Takeuchi Miyu.  Takeuchi has never ranked in the top 100 of AKB48’s Sosenkyo Senbatsu and here she is now in the top 12 at #11.  Takeuchi talked about how she never ranked in the top 100 for AKB, so she wanted to come to Korea and was grateful and will continue to do her best.

Overall, Takeuchi has proven to be a trainee with a positive attitude and beautiful voice.
