Katori Shingo and longtime fashion editor Sukezane Tomoki open a shop, JANTJE_ONTEMBAAR

Katori Shingo (41) and fashion editor Sukezane Tomoki have opened up a shop JANTJE_ONTEMBAAR on August 25th in Tokyo.

The two were planning and preparing the opening of the new shop for about a year and when Katori was asked about the opening of the shop post-SMAP, Katori said, “It is really the beginning as a new map starts”.

Sukezane brings a lot of experience to the business as a master in fashion with about 25-years in the industry.

The name of the shop is derived from the Dutch word “Ontembaar” (Ontenbaru) which means untameable or irrepressible. While the JANTJE or Yanche is derived from the the Japanese word “Yancha” which means mischievous.

Katori is also involved in the design of the products and his paintings are found on the denim and coat lining.  The goal is not to have a brand launch from a single perspective and it is not a select shops, as it has the potential of developing new products in cooperation with existing brands.
