A new movie still from “Koi no Shizuku” was released featuring the late Osugi Ren and Kawaei Rina

A new movie still from “Koi no Shizuku” was released featuring the late Osugi Ren and actress Kawaei Rina.

Osugi passed away back on February 21st from a heart attack.

The film revolves around the joy of life through sake making and Kawaei’s character, Tachibana Shiori, who wants to become a wine sommelier and is near graduating from the University of Tokyo’s agricultural program and studying overseas in France.  Unfortunately, she is missing credits of practicing at a sake brewery.

So, Shiori heads to the countryside to learn about making sake at a sake brewery owned by sake master, Kurobara (portrayed by Osugi).

A portion of the revenue will be donated to the reconstruction of western Japan affected by the flooding.

The film stars Kawaei Rina, Osugi Ren, Onozuka Hayato (of Gekidan EXILE), Miyaji Mao, Warabino Tomoya, Tsuda Kanji and more.

The day after Osugi Ren’s death, Kawaei posted a photo of the cast on Instagram and wrote:

The last time I worked on you in “Koi no Shizuku” was friendly, gentle and warm.

I learned about your compassion towards people, your enthusiasm for your work and your way of thinking.

I was hoping to tell you “Let’s work together again”, because I was looking forward to seeing you again.

I wanted to have a stage greeting together, though the movie wasn’t completed yet.  I wantd for us to watch the movie.

I am very sad right now.

Please rest at ease.

I’m really thankful to you.

I pray for your soul from the bottom of my heart.
