If there was a friendship that developed (but was not as focused as much) on “Produce48”, it was NMB48’s Lee Gaeun and Pledis trainee and After School member, Lee Gaeun.
For those who did not watch “Produce48”, Lee Gaeun was a member of the K-Pop group After School. Through her activity promoting in Korea and Japan, she learned to speak Japanese.
For Gaeun, the last performance for her on stage was in 2013 and she waited the next few years for the group to reunite and do a comeback but yet, nothing happened.
Many have hoped that the group would return in 2018, considering their success but nothing happened and four of the eight members had graduated from the group after their contract expired.
Lee Gaeun appeared on “Produce48” and while many Korean trainees were shocked to see someone who debuted competing with them, her story was one of the most touching.
It was also as shocking that Lee Gaeun, who had been one of the top ranked trainees week after week and was considered a shoe-in for the Top 12, ranked #14 and was eliminated.
But one person who really adored her talent was NMB48’s Shiroma Miru who said that she wished Lee Gaeun could be a member of NMB48. Both danced together for Team Side to Side, which Shiroma was voted by the National Producers as #1.
And if anything, both have mutual respect for each other and Lee Gaeun traveled to Osaka to visit both NMB48’s Shiroma Miru and Kato Yuuka who were both on “Produce48”.
Shiroma and Kato posted photos on their Instagram.
Shiroma wrote, “Today, Lee Gaeun came to Osaka. And me, Yuuka and Kaeun went out to eat. It was weird to meet Gaeun in Osaka but I was so happy to see her. Gaeun was so cute! I really love her! I want to see her again!”.
Kato wrote, “I am so happy! She’s such loving onee-san. Next time we want to come out to see you. I love you”.
Gaeun replied, “I was also happy! I love you!”
