Shogakukan to release the December 19, 1982 special issue of “Bessatsu Kindai Eiga” featuring Kawai Naoko digitally, all special volumes from 1981-1986 to be released in February 2019

Kawai Naoko was one of the most popular idol singers of the early ’80s who was also an actress but also multi-talented in playing various instruments such as the piano, guitar, mandolin, synthesizer, etc.

And her photo albums were among the top sellers of its time and she released more than 20 photo collections since her debut back in 1980.

Kawai was married in 1996 and gave birth in 1997 and while she has been inactive afterward, she would be considered as one of the ’80s “legendary idols”.

And now Shogakukan will be releasing the December 19, 1982 special issue of “Bessatsu Kindai Eiga” featuring Kawai Naoko digitally.

Older volumes of “Bessatsu Kindai Eiga” (volumes 1-7 from 1981-1986) are expensive to purchase, going up as Y40,000 at second-hand bookstores.  Shogakukan plans to make all 7 volumes available digitally via e-book on February 18, 2019.
