A BNK48 member is in hot water for wearing a t-shirt with the Nazi swastika logo

Another AKB48G group is in hot water, this time it’s BNK48 (a sister group based in Bangkok, Thailand).

Photos went viral of the a member in rehearsal wearing a t-shirt with the Nazi swastika at a rehearsal prior to the BNK448 6th Single Senbatsu.

The group has been receiving a lot of criticism since the incident.   The member Pichayapa “Namsai” Natha (19) who wore the t-shirt was in tears apologized saying, “this incident was brought on by my ignorance and I will never do such a thing again”.

The embassy in Thailand issued the following statement on Twitter:

The Embassy of Israel in Thailand is shocked and in dismay to see a member of BNK49 wearing a t-shirt with the swastika.

Tomorrow is a day of remembrance of the genocide of Jewish where the global population will mourn the 6 million Jews who were killed.

The BNK48 singer wearing the t-shirt hurts millions of people around the world where their relatives were killed by Nazis.

An article was posted about the troubling trend of youth in Thailand embracing imagery or fashion borrowed from Germany’s Third Reich.  According to the article, many of the youth who said they were unaware of the history behind the outfit.
