IZ*ONE debuts at #1 on the Daily Oricon Charts, ending Kis-My-Ft2’s streak of consecutive #1 singles on the Daily Charts

It was one of the biggest discussions on social media of who would debut at #1 on the Oricon’s Daily Chart between IZ*ONE and the favorited Kis-My-Ft 2.

The Johnny’s Jimusho group has been #1 for 22 consecutive times debuting on the Oricon Charts, an amazing feat.  IZ*ONE, the global pop group featuring nine Korean members and three Japanese members (from HKT48 and AKB48) has quickly established not just a male following, but a significant female fan following in Japan but also a very large fandom overall worldwide.

So, it was not known who would take #1 but it was projected that Kis-My-Ft2 would more than likely take #1 because of their streak and fandom.

And it was a very close battle for the top position on debut day as IZ*ONE took the #1 position at 193,469 copies sold vs. Kis-My-Ft2’s 183,115 copies ending the groups #1 streak.  But who will take #1 on the Oricon Weekly Charts?

In addition, IZ*ONE takes the position at #1 for K-Pop female group in Japan with the most sales, surpassing TWICE’s “Wake Me Up” which had 129,275 copies sold.

For digital sales, Yonezu Kenshi’s “Lemon” continued to stay at #1 since being released back in February 12, 2018 with 3,536 downloads, while  IZ*ONE took #2 with 2,276 downloads.

As for album, Fukuyama Masaharu took #1 with his album “DOUBLE ENCORE” which sold 30,453 copies.
