Hikaru Utada Laughter in the Dark Tour 2018: The artist’s first domestic tour in 12 years

Hikaru Utada Laughter in the Dark Tour 2018 was the artist’s first domestic tour in 12 years, which commemorated her 20th debut anniversary and was held November-December 2018.  The tour opened at Yokohama Arena where Utada had done her final concert before going on hiatus to “concentrate on human activities” in 2010, and closed at Makuhari Messe on December 9, the 20th debut anniversary date, attracting huge attention.  Drawing a total audience of 140,000 and showcasing an overwhelming array of 20 songs including the encore, featuring songs such as “Automatic” and “First Love” as well as last year’s release “Hatsukoi”, the footage of the final show is now announced as a visual product release.

For the first time in Hikaru Utada’s career, the release will be made in a variety of formats:

The limited edition bundle is the complete edition which features both Blu-ray and DVD of the final, Makuhari Messe show of Hikaru Utada Laughter in the Dark Tour 2018 tour, as well as the documentary Talking About Laughter in the Dark consisting of interviews with the touring band and crew.  The bundle also comes with a 60-page book of photos, many of them previously unreleased, of the artist onstage and in rehearsal.  Furthermore, a replica of the backstage pass, and a bonus DVD that features three music video clips since her move to Sony Music (“Forevermore”, “Anata”, and “Hatsukoi”) and three documentary videos previously broadcasted on M-ON! tracking the “making” process of the music video clips, will also be included.  It is a must-have for fans who have been to the tour, and those who were not able to alike, to experience this memorial tour vicariously.

On a related note, again for the first time in the artist’s career, the product will be distributed on multiple outlets.  It will be available for digital download purchase on iTunes Store, pay-per-view on SkyPerfect TV! On Demand, and streaming on Netflix. (※Digital download for iTunes may delay in some countries) It also marks the first visual work of Hikaru Utada to be distributed through a subscription service.
