“Rashomon”, “Ugetsu Monogatari” actress Kyo Machiko has passed away

Actress Kyo Machiko, who has starred in many films by Kurosawa Akira, Mizoguchi Kenji and Ichikawa Kyon has passed away.

The actress died on Sunday at the age of 95 of heart failure according to Toho Co., who released a statement of her death on May 14th.

Kyo was known as a “Grand Prix Actress” as many of the films she starred in had won top awards at numerous film festivals worldwide.

Kyo Machiko has starred in films such as “Rashomon”, “Gate of Hell”, “Ugetsu Monogatari”, “The Teahouse of the August Moon” and many more.
