Searching for the Kochikame Statues near Kameari Station in Katsushika – Part Three

In the first blog post, I discussed the the popular manga/anime series “Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen Mae Hashutsujo” (“KochiKame” in short) by Akimoto Osamu.

In Katsushika ward, near Kameari Station, numerous bronze statues dedicated to the series can be found. A map is featured inside the station, but can you find them all?

In the second blog post, I looked for the first four statues until I received a message to meet up with a friend, thus giving me only 15 minutes to search for more statues. So, my only choice was to find those on the opposite end of the station and then save the search for more statues for another day.

Right near the southside entrance of Kameari Station are numerous statues. Statue #6 can be seen on the right side outside of the station.

To the right is the Kameari South Police box and in the rear is an entrance to Kameari Ririo Park. Unfortunately, I only have ten minutes left, so I had to check out and find as many statues with 10 minutes left.

Unlike other statues, statue #6 looks like it’s gold and there is a big “Welcome to Kameari” sign on top.

Fortunately, statue #7 is across the street and it’s another Ryotsu Kankichi statue sitting on the bench. Chilling under the shade. And fortunately, there are no cigarette butts strewn around the statue’s feet. Although, it looks like a bird passed by and pooped on Ryotsu’s left leg.

Unfortunately, with five minutes left, I only had time to see one more statue and it’s the final 15th statue. Statues of Ryotsu Kankichi, Nakagawa Keiichi and Akimoto Reiko.

While I was able to find numerous statues, there is part of that feels unfulfilled that I didn’t have the time to find them all. I did try to find statues #13 and #14 but it appears that #14 is inside the Liro building on the seventh floor and #13 is just across the street but I didn’t get a front shot.

Needless to say, I will need to return to Kameari Station to complete the KochiKame statue find and also to visit the Kochikame Game Park.

With that being said, there is another KochiKame location outside of Kameari Station and it’s actually found in Asakusa in front of Asakusa Jinja under a tree.

You can watch a video when I visited the Kochikame Statues here:
