Checking out the Enoshima Hello Kitty Saryo (Tea House) and Store at Enoshima Island

For those going to Enoshima Island, Tobiccho is not the only popular restaurant in the region, because there is another famous location which brings in a flock of tourists and it’s the Enoshima Hello Kitty Saryo (saryo means “tea house”). NOTE: Another beautiful shop is located in Kyoto!

And it’s store next door is probably the largest Hello Kitty Store I have seen (and this includes the Hello Kitty Japan Sanrio store located at Tokyo Solamachi next to Tokyo Sky Tree in terms of Hello Kitty only merchandise).

As for the tea house, this is for the Hello Kitty fans. There is take out but of course, those who want the experience will want to eat inside the cafe (open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).

Also, as I warned people about Enoshima Island many times before…the Island is not where you want to eat outside due to the Black Kite Hawks who may hurt and injure you (as they will dive bomb towards you if you eat food or snacks outside).

You’ll notice the theme of this location as Hello Kitty in kimono (well, actually you can find this at other shops in Japan as well) but this is a niche cafe that will not feed the super hungry but it’s for those who want the experience (like one would at a Gundam Cafe, AKB48 Cafe, a Cat or Owl Cafe, etc.).

And as most niche cafes in Japan go, there are seasonal items that are offered. I went in the Spring, so it was Sakura-based (cherry blossom) items.

After you are done eating at Enoshima Hello Kitty Saryo, walk next door and it’s the ultimate Hello Kitty experience.

Once again, this is Hello Kitty-driven merchandise, so you are not going to find other Sanrio characters such as Pochacco, Keroppi, Batz Maru, Gudetama and other Sanrio merchandise like the Hello Kitty Japan at Tokyo Solamachi.

The store does take Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express along with popular Japanese credit cards, so have your credit card ready as you may find yourself spending a lot at this shop if you or your family members are into Hello Kitty!

Overall, it’s a pretty awesome location for Hello Kitty fans on the main Benzaiten Nakamise-dori main strip once you enter the shopping/restaurant areas of Enoshima Island.
