Moriguchi Hiroko appears in an Oricon top 10 ranking for the first time in 28 years and 2 months with “GUNDAM SONG COVERS”

Moriguchi Hiroko is known for MC’ing on music shows and known for her wonderful singing voice but the last time a song of hers has reached the Oricon top 10 was back on June 21, 1991 for “Eternal Songs” which came in at #10.

Fastforward 28-years and two months later, Moriguchi’s “GUNDAM SONG COVERS” has entered the top 10 at #3 on the Oricon Weekly Album Charts on August 19th.

Other artists who entered the Oricon Charts over 20 years later was Koizumi Kyoko (25 years and 2 months from 1992 to 2017), Yamaguchi Momoe (22 years and six months from 1980 to 2016).  The longest was Saijo Hideki (40 years and 10 months from 1977 to 2018).

On the success of her new album, Moriguchi said, “It’s a miracle that this happened on the 40th anniversary of Gundam, I was surprised and filled with joy.  I thank the unwavering passion of the staff and all who were involved in the making of this cover album”.
