Matsuoka Masahiro to star in live action TV drama adaptation of “Shiyakusho”

TOKIO’s Matsuoka Masahiro (42) will be starring in the TV Tokyo drama adaptation of the Azumikishi manga series “Shiyakusho” (Death Office).

The popular manga series is serialized in Shinchosa’s “Gekkan Comic@Bunch” since 2013 and a total of 1.2 million copies were sold.

The manga series is set in a place where everyone who has committed suicide, is murdered, died of disease, died in an accidental death, end of life or died in still borth must visit and their death must be processed.

The drama series follows the staff working at Shiyakusho and the staff are former death row prisoners.  They all have names which must have “shi” and if they were sentenced to death, they can be accepted to work at Shiyakusho and are forced to take an employee recruitment test by law.  If they decline, they will go to Fuyoku no Michi and live in darkness forever.  If they are hired and are able to complete their service at the office, they can life life in the ways of Buddha.

Matsuoka will be playing the role of Shimura Masamichi, a mysterious man wearing glasses who is always smiling.  But how did he get his job working at Shiyakusho?

The drama series will begin in October around midnight.
