Enka singer Shiino Mika updates her blog after receiving criticism for her comments

Enka singer Shinno Mika wrote on her blog about riding on the shinkansen and noticed that there were no chopsticks with the dish she had purchased.

She knocked on the conductor’s compartment and asked the female conductor if they had forks or chopsticks for sale that she can purchase and the conductor said “There are no chopsticks or forks” and closed the door hard, which took Shinno by surprise.

She was surprised by the behavior and wrote on her blog to the female conductor “You are wearing a uniform, a great uniform.  I want customers when they see women in uniform to ride the shinkansen again, especially with a major event taking place next year”.

Japanese netizens were not pleased with Shinno’s post, as conductor’s are not salespeople on a shinkansen.

Comments were as follows:

Conductors rooms are not a shop

Did you mistake the conductor as a waiter?

Conductors and in-vehicle sales are different companies.

That’s not a conductor’s job

Needless to say, a lot of the comments were negative and Shiino had to update her blog and apologize to those she made feel uncomfortable.

She said she accidentally omitted that she went to knock on the conductor’s room to ask if they have in-car sales for her to purchase chopsticks, not to ask if the conductor had them.

She also said she was hungry and impatient and people were able to understand as when people are hungry, sometimes people are not able to see right and wrong.  But some recommended to her, maybe to bring chopsticks with her in the future.
