Japan Auto Federation warning automobile owners to open/knock on their hood before driving their car

The Japanese Automobile Federation is wanting automobile owners to open or knock on their hoods of their car before driving.

The reason is because in the winter, more cats are trying to hide in the hoods to stay warm.

In January 2019, it was reported that animals had entered the engine area of their car, of the 27 requests to JAF, 25 of them were cats.

They said that there is an area where cats can get into the engine and if you start the engine, the cat can get caught in the engine belt.

NISSAN recommends hitting the hood before driving (called the “NekoBanBan” or “KnockKnock Cats” technique), to scare the cat. But some fearful cats may hide even deeper in the engine area.
