“Weekly Shonen Jump” announced that serialized manga will be suspended due to the novel coronavirus

“Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) announced on May 11th that a number of serialized manga has been suspended due to the novel coronavirus.

On the official website, the “Weekly Shonen Jump” statement reads, “To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, manga creators which are currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump were asked what would be the best way to have the least possible risk of infection.  And their answer is that if the method was implemented, it would take a lot of time to complete a story, so it was unavoidable that titles will be suspended”.

“In the future, we will announce the latest information about the suspension on our official Twitter and official website, so please keep checking.  We apologize for the inconvenience to all our readers, but we are asking for your understanding.   We will continue to make every effort to publish magazines that everyone can enjoy”.

Oda Eiichiro, manga creator of “ONE PIECE” sent a message with illustrations on his @Eiichiro_Staff Twitter account and the measures he is taking against the novel coronavirus.
