Jump has created a manga school, numerous mangaka to be lecturers

Shonen Jump SQ and Shonen Jump + are presenting their Jump no Manga Gakko (Jump Manga School).

According to the announcement:

Jump wants to help manga artists even more. We will start a course that reveals the experience and know-how about manga production that we have cultivated so far.

Jump has been creating many popular works for over half a century. Jump Editors have been watching the manga artist’s process of producing their work. The knowledge that only a limited number of people can access will be disclosed at the Jump Cartoon School. You will surely find the correct path that applies to your personality. We hope that the experience that Jump has cultivated will contribute to your manga production.

Tapped to be lecturers are Inagaki Riichiro (“Eyeshield 21” and “Dr. STONE”), Matsui Yusei (“Assassination Clasroom), the first editor of “ONE PIECE” and the Editor-in-Chief of Weekly Shonen Jump will serve as lecturers.

Seminars on manga production will be held 10 times in a half-year period.  During the period, students will be instructed by the editor as temporary staff and the graduating members work will be published in “Shonen Jump +”.

Recruitment of students have begun on May 15th, deadline for application is at 23:59 on May 31st (if mailed, it must arrive before May 31st).  The number of applicants is 50 and if there are many more applicants, selection will be based on the character artwork which the person drew themselves.

The location of the lecture is scheduled at Shueisha but to prevent the spread of the novelcoronavirus, lectures may be distributed online in which students can watch.
