A 50-year-old man, Kaku Akihiro from Shinjuku was arrested for comments he made about NGT48 members on Twitter back in May 2019.
Kaku made damaging comments in regards to Nishigata Marina, Kato Minami, Ogino Yuka, Tano Ayaka and Yama Eno saying they were users of illegal drugs.
NGT48’s management requested assistance of determining the identity of the person who sent the tweets and the investigation led to Kaku, who was arrested on July 21st on charges of libel.
Kaku admitted to the charges and said, “I suspected that the five of them were involved in the assault of another NGT48 member and I didn’t trust them. My aim was to damage their public image”.
