NGT48 members open up about not being able to release a single for nearly two years

It has been a long 1 year and nine months since NGT48 has released a new song. But with “Sherbet Pink” having been released back on July 22nd, it’s a new beginning for the idol group.

But since the problem with former NGT48 member Yamaguchi Maho’s assault and a few other members leaving a group, NGT48 is still face challenges in winning the public’s trust which led to the group’s halt of activities.

Recently, Ogino Yuka, Nakai Rika, Homma Hinata, Oguma Tsugumi, Fujisaki Miyu and Ando Chikana were interviewed by Yahoo! News, Taguchi Shunsuke.

The members said it’s been awhile since they had received any news coverage as NGT48.

In regards to their new c/w song “Zetsubo no nochi de” (After despair), Ogino said, “Of course, there were moments when I felt despair within the year and nine months. Of course, the lyurics have a strong message and we thought, how can we express this song?  I was very worried.  I think that this song has a different attitude and can maximize our present appearance”.

When asked about the harsh comments they have received during that period of time, Nakai Rika said, “At first I wasn’t used to the harsh opinions, so I was confused and scared.  A lot of harsh opinions and sad words were sent to me.  Among them, my feelings for the fans who were waiting for our activities were even greater. I will continue to accept these tough opinions and will continue to move forward.  I have to.  Still…”.

“There were moments when I was so desperate that I strongly thought, ‘I want to quit’.  However, the members were trying to unite and work hard and I wanted to be part of that circle.  After that, I stop thinking about the painful things”.

Ogino said, “I want to do something for Niigata Prefecture.  I’ve been active in Niigata so far, but I haven’t been to all the cities yet.  We really love Niigata Prefecture and we would like to show our heartfelt thanks for our actions”.

Eleven members have left NGT48 since the incident.  But with this new beginning, the operating company has changed (they are now with Flora) back in April, Fujisaki Mimu who was a research student became the center of “Sherbet Pink” and will carry the new NGT48 on her shoulders.  Fujisaki said she has a lot of support from her fellow members.
