Yamada Mariya on why she created a YouTube channel

Back in the ’90s, Yamada Mariya was one of the most successful gravure idols in Japan and was often seen in television.

She is said to have opened a new path for gravure idols and in 2008, Yamada got married and is currently a mother to a 7-year-old named Munori-kun and has been busy raising her son.

In May 2020, she made her debut as a YouTuber.

Aera.dot recently interviewed Yamada about why she created a YouTube channel and she was suggested of doing it but she felt she couldn’t do it.

But as she started shooting video, she realized that YouTube is a paradise for people who like to be interviewed and talk about themselves.  And she feels it fits her.

Her producer felt she could show people how life was as a parent and her relationship with her eldest child, may it be homeworking, eating habits, visiting the family doctor and more.

When asked if she is worried due to hate comments on the Internet, Yamada said she doesn’t worry about it.  Her son started appearing in “Tetsuko’s Room” a month after birth and wants to grow as a professional entertainer.  She said that being in the entertainment world for 25 years, there is no way she can stop the slander and while it hurts, as long as there is no physical harm, she’s fine.

When asked what she would like to see happen on her YouTube channel, Yamada said she wishes she can meet Gackt and ROLAND with her son Mune.  She would love to see his reaction.

Yamada debuted as a gravure idol in 1996 and won first place in Miss Young Magazine’s Grand Prix.  She was selected as Fuji TV’s Visual Queen of the Year and appeared as an actress on “Ultraman Dyna” and “Suzuran”.  She married actor Kusano Toru in 2008 and in 2012, gave birth to her son.

Her YouTube channel is named “MuneMari Channel”.
