SEGA SAMMY to withdraw from the domestic arcade management business by the end of the year

It was announced on November 4th that SEGA SAMMY which operates gaming equipment at various entertainment facilities will be withdrawing from the domestic arcade management business by December 30, 2020.

SEGA SAMMY which held an 85.1% stake in SEGA ENTERTAINMENT (a subsidiary of amusement facility planning and operation) will be transferred to amusement facility operating subsidiary GENDA (an amusement equipment rental business).  The transfer price has not been disclosed.

The occupancy rate was declining at facilities due to the closure brought on by the novel coronavirus.

SEGA was established back in 1951, while Sammy Corporation was founded in 1975.  Both companies merged in 2004 as both companies were facing difficulties. The merger focused on arcade machine sales and the pachinko business.
