Nakagawa Shoko took to Twitter in regards to hoaxes of people infected with the novel coronavirus. In this case, the hoax was about her.
Nakagawa wrote, “There is a site that posted a lie that Nakagawa Shoko was infected with the novel coronavirus. Shouldn’t such a person be arrested?”.
Nakagawa continued, “You shouldn’t joke around with Corona, don’t you know that’s not right?”.

In Japan, there have been a few cases of people falsely posting information about employees of stores being infected with the coronavirus, thus hurting their business and causing defamation.
In one case, police in Fukushima arrested an office worker after he posted on an anonymous online bulletin board that a store owned by a family were infected with the coronavirus. The store began receiving multiple calls, which caused damage and decrease in sales. The suspect said he heard gossip from work and posted it.
