Nagatoro is a freshman in high school who loves teasing and torturing her older male classmate (Senpai). What is her motivation and why does Senpai put up with her? Does Nagatoro just want to create misery for Senpai? Or maybe she secretly likes him?
Back in 2011, Nanashi (774) created “Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san” (Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagattoro) on Pixiv.
The actual webmanga series would begin its serialization in “Magazine Pocket” and no available in North America by Vertical Comics.
The series begins with an shy, introverted artist who accidentally dropped his artwork in front of the popular Nagatoro and her friends.
Immediately, Nagatoro begins calling the artist “senpai” and because of his lack of social skills, nor having a girlfriend, Nagatoro tries to explain to him that his manga is too unrealistic because he has never been with a girl, never had a girlfriend and she calls him and his main character in his manga as “pathetic”.
And Nagatoro immediately starts bullying and pestering Nagatoro to the point of tears.
And now the artist must deal with Nagatoro each and everyday, as she makes fun of him by trying to flirt or use sexual teasing in order to make fun of him.
In the latest third volume, it’s the Summer Festival and Nagatoro’s friends want Nagatoro’s Senpai (who they call “Paisen”) all to themselves. But how will Nagatoro respond to that?
In the latest fourth volume of “Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro”, I can easily say that this manga series has become more entertaining.
My feelings towards the manga has changed a lot since the first volume which kind of made me angry because it seemed as if Miss Nagatoro was a bully who enjoyed seeing the nerdier manga artist cry and her tearing away his self-esteem.
But with each volume after, you start to wonder if Miss Nagatoro really likes “senpai” and for “senpai” who didn’t like having her around, has he started to miss Nagatoro pestering him?
In this latest volume, we start to see a jealous side to Miss Nagatoro as her friends are now wanting to spend time with her senpai, and she doesn’t like it all that much.
With Nagatoro’s friends now appearing in more chapters, the tone has changed for the manga series and now, you just wonder if these two will end up hooking up?
I guess we’ll have to wait and find out. But fortunately, I can say that with each volume, “Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro” seems to get better and better.
