UPDATE: Yomiuri Giants Maru, Wakabayashi, Wheeler and Nakajima tested positive for COVID, 10 players and staff are now in isolation

The Yomiuri Giants announced on April 4th that outfielder Maru Yoshihiro (31) and infielder Nakajima Hiroyuki (38) have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Infielder Wakabayashi Akihiro (27) and infielder Zelous Wheeler (34) have now tested positive following a team’s examination on April 4th.  All athletes have shown no symptoms.

Ten Yomiuri Giants individuals including outfielder Kamei Yoshiyuki (38), infielder Masuda Daiki (27) and Kitamura (25) and seven team staff members who were in close contact with the four players are now in isolation.

The Tokyo Yakult Swallows have confirmed that catcher Nishida Akihisa (28) and team staff members have tested positive.    Outfielder Aoki Norichika (39), infielder Uchikawa Seiichi (38) and others who have had close contact with the infected are also isolating at home.
