Saying farewell to IZ*ONE (Thank You For the Awesome Memories!) – Part 1 (2018)

The global pop group known as IZ*ONE will be completing its successful run on April 29th.

Having covered IZ*ONE since the beginning, and the members even before IZ*ONE’s debut with the weekly reports for “Produce 48”.  These last two and half years, each of these members brought us nothing but happiness and fantastic music.

They entertained fans worldwide and in honor of IZ*ONE, we will do our “Saying farewell to IZ*ONE (Thank you for the Awesome Memories!).  This first part covers part 1 (2018)!

IZ*ONE is a group which was founded from the “Produce 48” live audition show which was a Korean and Japan collaboration based on the popular “Produce 101” series which had produced groups such as I.O.I. and Wanna One.

The show originally began with 48 trainees from South Korea (from CNC Entertainment, YGKPLUS, Cube Entertainment, FNC Entertainment, MNH Entertainment, RBW Entertainment, Million Market, Banana Culture Entertainment, Well Made Yedang, HOW Entertainment, Urban Works, YueHwa Entertainment, A Team, MMO Entertainment, MND17, FENT, Woollim Entertainment, Music Works, 8D Creative, WM Entertainment, Block Berry Creative, STARSHIP, STONE Music, PLEDIS and ZB Label) and 48 trainees from Japan (AKB48G: AKB48, AKB48 Team 8, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48 and NGT48).

We watched as the group went from 96 to 58 trainees, down to 30 trainees and then 20. And the final episode brings it down to the final 12 who will become the global pop group, IZ*ONE.

The “Produce48” final episode was no doubt emotional but at the same time, excitement of when this new group featuring the 12 members would make their debut.

IZ*ONE was a name derived from “12 Members Becoming One” and their fandom would be called “WIZ*ONE”.

We watched as the Korean members began their VLIVE having a picnic near Han River or did VLIVE’s together, while Miyawaki Sakura would send her first message to WIZ*ONE and her good friend Lee Chaeyeon on her Tokyo FM Radio Show.

Then watching the first VLIVE with the group together as a group:

You can follow the group on V LIVE and view the video here.

Then watching the first IZ*ONE Birthday VLIVE’s with the group celebrating leader Kwon Eunbi’s birthday. And the birthday’s become a must-watch for WIZ*ONE for the next 2.5 years.

The group would then release their first dance choreography video for “Nekkoya”:

And members of the group IZ*ONE teamed up with AKB48, Nogizaka46, Keyakizaka46 for the final idol song of the Heisei Era with the song “Hitsuzensei” for the FNS performance in December and the song would later released on AKB48’s 55th single Type-C “Jiwaru Days”.

Meanwhile in South Korea, on December 29th, Miyawaki Sakura appeared in a cooking show!

Miyawaki Sakura appeared on the new South Korean show on Olive TV titled “Everyone’s Kitchen” and prior to the show, it was mentioned that Miyawaki had no translator and the show would give viewers a glimpse of how far Sakura’s studying of the Korean language is coming along.

Sakura has said that aside from the IZ*ONE members, she hasn’t had the opportunity to make any friends in Korea yet.

So, this was a great opportunity as Sakura is joined with MC/Comedian Kang Hodong, actor/singer Kwang Dong Yeon, actress Lee Chung Ah and former boy band ZE:A member, Kwanghee.

And on New Year’s Eve, IZ*ONE made their Japanese debut on television for the CountDown TV (CDTV) Special performing their debut Japanese song “Suki to Iwasetai”:
