Sasaki Ayaka (25) of the idol group Momoiro Clover Z was hospitalized and diagnosed with “right peripheral facial nerve palsy”. The announcement was made on the group’s official website.

According to NCBI, “Peripheral facial nerve palsy is diagnosed upon the clinical presentation with weakness of all facial nerve branches, drooping of the brow, incomplete lid closure, drooping of the corner of the mouth, impaired closure of the mouth, dry eye, hyperacusis, impaired taste, or pain around the ear”.

Momoiro Clover Z’s “Momokuro Natsu no Panorama Jigoku 2021 ~Survive~” live concert was scheduled for August 31st at Saitama MetLife Dome but has been postponed. The transfer performance date will be announced as soon as adjustments are made.

Sasaki wrote a statement, “I was surprised by the diagnosis and I also am sorry. Now I am hospitalized but I am devoting myself to receiving treatment. It’s my first time and I feel so alone, but I am devoting myself to treatment and I hope I can recover as soon as possible. I am now resting!”.

“I’m sorry the live performance has been postponed. I thought I could do a live for the first time in a year and a half. I’m really disappointed because my heart is very energetic. During the live rehearsal, I felt sick and I went to the doctor immediately. The doctor told me that I should come back to the hospital if I started to have symptoms. Thanks to all the members who supported me and my manager who took care of me at the hospital. I’m so worried that tears will come out if I’m not careful but I’ll do my best so everyone can see that I’m doing well! Wait for me everyone!”.
