Kinoshita Yukina talks aobut why she left the entertainment industry back in November 2019

In her latest YouTube video, Kinoshita Yukina explained why she left the entertainment industry in November 2019, which would lead to her retiring from the entertainment world in July 2020.

The trouble began when she sent a threatening message on Instagram to the owner of a tapioca shop her sister worked and how the business owner lost business because of the post.

BACKGROUND ON THE TAPIOCA CASE:

THE TAPIOCA OWNER’S SIDE: Kinoshita’s older sister and the owner of the tapioca shop were friends.  The owner offered her a job at the new shop, because the sister was stressed at home on July 20, 2019.  In August when school holiday came around, the sister told the owner that she couldn’t work.  So, she was given a light work schedule of Fridays only.  On August 8, 2019, Shukan Shincho reported that Kinoshita Yukina’s sister had opened a tapioca store.  Kinoshita’s sister knew that it wasn’t right, but to promote the store, Kinoshita Yukina promoted the shop on Instagram but the owner never asked Kinoshita to advertise the store and the sister apologized to the owner because news media was reporting that she opened the store.

In September 2020, the sister said she was quitting and the owner felt that she was leaving because school was starting again but it would be hard on the shop if the sister quit suddenly and letting customers down.  Discussions failed, the sister quit.  The owner said he’ll pay her her wages for days worked and she can collect it during opening hours, but she never came.  So, he paid via bank transfer to her in late September.  That month, a food safety supervisor plaque with Sayaka’s name went missing and the owner notified police and when the police asked who had a spare key, Kinoshita’s sister had a key, even though she quit.  This led to Sayaka thinking that the owner is accusing her of theft and Kinoshita Yukina sent a childish and threatening message to the owner.  The owner received tons of prank calls after Kinoshita’s Instagram post went public and despite Kinoshita’s apology, the owner felt it wasn’t sincere and took legal action.

(KINOSHITA’S SISTER’S ACCOUNT): Kinoshita’s sister felt the owner invited to run the tapioca store together. She was stressed over family matters and agreed, because she could run a store together with her friend.  The sister thought the shop would be co-owned because the owner told her “Let’s run a tapioca store together”.  But felt it wasn’t when the owner designed the interior and refused payment when the sister offered to pay half the cost.  The store had over 200 customers on its first day thanks to Kinoshita Yukina’s promotion on Instagram and the owner was happy that Yukina helped advertise the store.  There were customers who thought the shop was owned by the sister, even when she told them that the shop’s not hers. The sister would say “The shop isn’t mine. It’s the owner’s. She’s letting me work here. This shop has no connection to Kinoshita Yukina either.”

But when the news article came out saying that Kinoshita’s sister was the owner of the shop, the sister felt it caused trouble for the owner and went to apologize to the owner and her mother.  And felt the apology was well taken.

But when Kinoshita wanted to quite on August 30th because she needed to look after her kids, the owner replied “We’re co-managing the shop, you have to share half the burden too”.  The sister was worried when the owner said that and discussed with her husband that they need to resign.  When she talked to the owner of quitting, the shop owner said to work on days that she could and things were going good. However on September 1st, she and the owner argued on “co-managing” on LINE and told the owner that she was quitting on September 2nd and nothing was resolved.

With the situation unclear, the sister worked on the 3rd and the 11th and on the 14th, the owner told her to come to the house to pick up gifts a friend had left to her and to leave the spare key to the store.  The sister felt, that must mean she was no longer an employee at the shop.

She returned the key on September 14th but didn’t receive her pay for August.  When she went to talk to the owner about the back pay, the owner said, “But I never said I would pay you today, did I?”  The sister said she didn’t need any payment anymore and the owner then said she would send payment via bank transfer a few days later.

The sister said she never touched, nor did she take the food safety supervisor plaque.  She told her sister what happened and her Yukina became emotional and posted the Instagram post and sent the messages to the shop owner.

This would lead to a lawsuit and on October 28, 2021, the Tokyo District Court handed down a ruling that Kinoshita had to pay 400,000 yen for damages (the victim was seeking 10 million yen for damages).

Kinoshita returned back to entertainment activity as she said she needed to earn money for her and her children.

NOW TO THE VIDEO:

Kinoshita talked about the day she posted the message on Instagram which got her in trouble but she received a DM message from a person claiming to be the lawyer for the other party which said “If you do not apologize at a press conference by 2:00 pm tomorrow, you will be erased from the entertainment world”.

Kinoshita said she gave the contact information to the chief manager at her agency and acknowledge that she refrained from activities as a result of that DM message and that the behavior from the other party escalated.

One month after inactivity, she and her manager would be harassed and she had to give a police report. She then felt that her life was in danger and she couldn’t leave the house. They tried to settle but it was unsuccessful, the victim refused the apology and the case went into trial. She explained to the victim about the DM she received from the lawyer, but learned that DM message was not from the victims lawyer.

Even her management didn’t know about what happened and unfortunately, the situation would affect her relationship with her management.
