Sakaguchi Kenji returns to television for the first time in many years

Back in 2018, actor/model Sakaguchi Kenji’s career in entertainment came to an end when he revealed he suffers from idiopathic osteonecrosis (an ischemic disorder that causes bone necrosis of the femoral head, resulting in hip joint dysfunction).

This led to Sakaguchi pursuing his two loves, surfing and coffee and creating the successful coffee business, THE RISING SUN COFFEE.

But the former actor appeared on TV, his first in many years for the live auction special “Kaiten! Yumeijin Depato Haru no Shibutsu dai Seru 3-jikan SP) (Opened! Celebrity Department Store-Spring Private Big Sale 3 Hours SP-).

The show features valuable personal belongings by entertainers and works made by them as a hobby or work. Sakaguchi exhibited limited coffee beans, coffee cups and surfboards he loves.

Sakaguchi wrote an Instagram of why he appeared on the TV show.

Sakaguchi wrote that he received a letter from the producer of the program.  Sakaguchi wrote, “When I read it, I found that he was a surfer and loved the sea, and I wanted to support the coffeemen who are working hard through this project. I myself was taken care of by Fuji TV on various programs, so I thought it was just a story, so we exchanged conversations through e-mail. From the story’s flow, I got excited and I decided to participate in the program.  After all, I think that work is related to timing, so I am grateful to Producer Shimamoto for creating a wonderful opportunity. I think the barista Mr. Narizawa and other staff members also had a wonderful experience. Thank you to all the staff involved in the program and everyone who participated in the auction”.
