Yomiuri Giants slide to #2, Yakult at #3 and Softbank Hawks and Rakuten Eagles are still neck to neck in NPB standings

What a difference a week makes.

The Yomiuri Giants who started out strong being undefeated in the beginning has slipped to #2 as the Hiroshima Carp moved to the #1 spot, one game ahead of the Giants in the Central League.

Last year’s NPB champions, Yakult Swallows are at #3.

While in the Pacific League, the Softbank Hawks and Rakuten Eagles are neck-and-neck with the Hawks one game ahead.  Last year’s Pacific League champs, the Orix Buffaloes are at #4.

While it’s much too early in the season, two things are evident so far and that is the last place Hanshin Tigers need help as they are 1-12 in the Central League and the Nippon Ham Fighters are last place at 3-11.
