Former NMB48 member Takano Yui (28), a member who became an idol at the age of 17 and graduated at the age of 21, opened an online liquor store in January 2022 specializing in sake. She also opened a store in Nishiasakusa, Tokyo.

Takano tells Bunshun, “I like sake. My parents also like alcohol, so I often drunk it at home”.

When Takano was a talent, shje had a sake-themed program called “Yuiponshu!!” in which she traveled to sake breweries all over Japan, attended sake events and is a qualified sake brewer.

Takano tells Bunshun that “I wanted to know more about Sake. I decided to record the sake that I drank in my notebook. The brand and taste impressions as well as self-scoring on a scale of five points. So, I understood what taste I like and which sake brewery I liked”.

As for selecting the brands of sake for her store, Takano said, “I have selected brands at my liquor store, but I directly visit the sake brewery who wants to trade and talk with them. I think this is a “business negotiation” in general, but I was able to do it without being too nervous from the beginning. I think it was because I naturally acquired the skills to speak in public when I was an idol or a talent. Also, if I hadn’t been doing entertainment activities, I might not have been able to enjoy ‘Sake’, and even if I had, I might not have been able to make a bold decision to open my own shop. I am now because I have been working hard in the entertainment world for about 10 years, even though I have been worried”.
