RADWIMPS Kuwahara Akira returns from hiatus and to the band

Last September, Kuwahara Akira (36), guitarist of RADWIMPS, was caught by the tabloid Bunshun for having an affair with a former model in her 20’s. The band announced on their website on the 17th that he has been suspended.

The band announced on the official website that the news about Kuwahara Akira is true and Kuwahara decided to suspend activities. The band wrote, “we apologize for the concern and inconvenience this has caused to everyone who supports RADWIMPS”.

While the band’s message to Kuwahara was stern, it was announced by the band on their official website that he will be returning to the band on October 5th.

The statement is as follows, “Guitarist Akira Kuwabara, who was on hiatus due to some media reports in September last year, has returned to the band today.  Based on the fact that the person himself is deeply reflecting on his own actions and thoughts and is trying to change every day, and that the members have spent a lot of time and conversations to sort out the feelings they have for his actions, we will once again start music activities together. We have reached the conclusion that we will continue together. Members and staff will work hard every day to deliver RADWIMPS’ music faithfully”.
