Over 460,000 people attended the two-day Gifu Nobunaga Festival but what brought these super large crowds (especially on the final day) is that former SMAP member, singer/actor Kimura Takuya would be appearing at the festival.
Kimura who rode on horseback played the role of the 16th century feudal lord Oda Nobunaga in the final day of the parade on November 6th. Kimura will be playing the role of Oda Nobunaga in the film “The LEGEND & BUTTERFLY” which will be released in January 2023.
According to Japanese news, “Since the participation of the two actors was announced, the festival has attracted national attention, with more than 960,000 people — more than twice the city’s population of 400,000 — applying for admission, 64 times the viewing area’s capacity of 15,000”.
Strict crowd control measures were in place, but unfortunately three women were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries.
