It was revealed on the 13th that singer-songwriter Aimer (age undisclosed) will appear for the first time on New Year’s Eve at the “73rd NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen”.

Early this year, the theme song “Zankyosanka” for the popular anime “Kimetsu no Yaiba” became a big hit and spent seven weeks at no. 1 on the Japan Hot 100 charts.

When the announcement was made, hardcore Gundam fans took to Twitter in hopes that Aimer would perform her 2013 hit song “Re: I Am” which was used as an ending theme for the anime OVA series “Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn” and ep. 18 of the OVA’s TV edit version of “Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096”.

Aimer is one of the mysterious Japanese performers. Detailed profiles such as date of birth are not disclosed. She also rarely appears in the media, nor does she hardly appear on TV national programs.

Aimer has a husky and sweet voice, and made her major debut in 2011. Her music has been featured in dramas, commercials and anime.
