A man accused of writing a death threat against the voice actress of the popular anime “Attack on Titan” has been sentenced to one year in prison.

In 2023, defendant Kishimoto Fukuta (25) wrote a message on an Internet bulletin board naming the voice actress Ishikawa Yui of “Attack on Titan” and threatening to kill her, saying, “I will stab her with a knife and kill her”. He is charged with making threats.

In its ruling, the Tokyo District Court pointed out that, “Even though he had served time in prison for a similar case, he committed an act that threatened to endanger her life”.

He then sentenced him to one year in prison, saying, “Considering the victim’s fear and anxiety, the consequences are grave and a prison sentence is appropriate”.

Netizens took to social media to post their thoughts:

They say one year is too lenient! It’s a trial sentence.

Even though he had a criminal record, it was only one year. He’ll probably do the same thing again when he gets out.

Is he a repeat offender? I wonder if he is the type for whom treatment is important for correction

Isn’t it a squid with sideburns? LOL. I want you to spend the rest of your life in a place where you don’t have to deal with TV or the internet.
