“Attack on Titan”, “Violet Evergarden”, “NieR: Automata” voice actress Ishikawa Yui is the Japanese dub voice actress for the character Zia Rodriguez for the action film “Jurassic World: Hono no Okoku” (a.k.a. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”).

Surprisingly, with numerous anime and video game voice acting roles, the film is her first time as a voice actress for a live-action movie.

Ishikawa said the difference between working in animation and a Japanese dub is to listen to the original sound.

“With animation, one can use their voice freely but in a Japanese dub, you have to be exact when it comes to various moments, including breathing.  You need to be more conscious about these things, so doing a dub is more difficult”.

In her blog, Ishikawa wrote, “Dubbing and anime voice acting may seem similar but how to record and how to create a voice is completely different.  Sometimes I felt frustrated because I didn’t think it went well.  Standing closely with the feelings of Zia, I played it with my best power at the moment!  this work is very interesting and I won’t stop…”.

Back on May 30th, after recording for the film, the staff celebrated her birthday with a “Jurassic World” cake.
