In response to the death of Toriyama Akira, a manga artist known for works such as “Dragon Ball”, Sorachi Hideaki, a manga artist who created “Gintama”, released a comment. Posted on the official Gintama anime X (formerly Twitter/ @gintamamovie ).

Sorachi’s comment posted on X is as follows:

Dragon Ball: Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger,
the worlds I was immersed in without doing my homework or even sleeping, come to think of it, they all came from Toriyama-sensei’s pen.
I admired that pen and tried to imitate it, but it didn’t work out at all, and I am the Nerikeshi manga artist who was born from the eraser scraps that piled up.

Toriyama-sensei, thank you for teaching me so much of the world, the world of manga. This gaping hole in my chest doesn’t seem to be closed even if I eat Senzu beans, but I will continue to carry one of the spirit balls that my teacher has scattered around the world, and I will continue to reach far higher heights, just like Goku. I will continue to follow the dashing back of such a teacher and be covered in eraser scraps. Thank you very much, Toriyama-san. I love you forever. Sorachi Hideaki

Below the comment is an illustration of the characters from “Gintama” with a “Dragon Ball” style touch. The post also included a comment from the anime staff, saying, “All of the anime staff also pray for Toriyama-sensei’s repose. Gintama Production Committee”.

Sorachi is such a big “Dragon Ball” fan that he often includes parodies in “GINTAMA”.
