There has been a lot of buzz that Matsui Jurina will be returning to the idol industry as she was appointed playing manager of KPL48, the first sister group of AKB48 in Malaysia.
KLP48 management released a document titled “Regarding the business partnership with Jurina Matsui” on this day. It was announced in May this year that Matsui would join KLP48 as a playing manager, and at the time, management expressed their expectations that “she will lead the members to become the best idol in the world”.
The group was announced to be formed in January this year, and was scheduled to debut next August. Now, less than a month later, the plan has suddenly went “blank”.
The management reported, “After our announcement on May 18th that ‘Jurina Matsui will join KLP48 as playing manager’, we have been discussing a specific business partnership with Matsui. While we have not been able to fully explain the details of her future activities in Malaysia, the management side has a lot of work going on, and we have concluded that it is difficult to ask Matsui to be a playing manager at this time, so we have decided to postpone the request by mutual agreement”.
Meanwhile, Matsui commented, “When I heard that I would be asked to support KLP48, I was very happy that I could give back to the fans who always welcome me warmly and to the overseas 48 groups. I really wanted to support them together with the staff, so I am very sorry that it has turned out this way. I am very sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it”.
